General Purpose of the Job The overall purpose of this job is to ensure the proper maintenance and functioning of production equipment within PALFINGER AG. This includes scheduled and preventative maintenance, repairs, calibrations, and upgrades to support the smooth operation of production processes and contribute to the overall efficiency of the company's operations.
Your Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance on production equipment to minimize downtime and maintain optimal functionality.
- Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions, including both simple and complex issues, to ensure continuous production flow and adherence to quality standards.
- Implement and improve preventative maintenance programs to prolong equipment lifespan and enhance production efficiency.
- Coordinate with external vendors to negotiate services and procure necessary parts and equipment for maintenance and repairs.
- Train and mentor new maintenance technicians to ensure a skilled and knowledgeable workforce for ongoing equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Document maintenance activities, including repairs, upgrades, and calibration procedures, for reference and historical records.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring the proper storage of tools, equipment, and spare parts for efficient maintenance operations.
Your Qualifications
The position requires professional knowledge that is normally obtained by a completed professional education / vocational training The position requires either formal vocational training or professional knowledge at an equivalent level that can be acquired through a combination of theoretical education and practical experience. With completed vocational training e.g., as an apprentice in a craft or trade, it is to be expected that all position-relevant tasks of this job can be completed professionally and unaided. Corresponds to EQF level 4, RQF level 3 or NVQ level 3, or Ordinary National Diploma at BTEC level 3. Experience Intermediate professional experience This level requires an intermediate level of experience to handle complex tasks that require a deeper understanding of industry standards and practices. The additional knowledge and skills acquired through intermediate relevant experience provide a significant increase of knowledge in scope, depth and content. Thus the job holder can process more complex tasks compared to less experienced staff at the same level of formal qualification. Intermediate roles typically require 3-5 years of experience but may not be exclusively limited to this range.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of mechanical systems and electrical components to troubleshoot and repair production equipment effectively.
- Experience in implementing preventative maintenance programs to reduce equipment downtime and maximize operational efficiency.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical drawings to perform accurate maintenance and repairs.
- Proficiency in using maintenance tools and equipment, such as multimeters, power tools, and diagnostic instruments, to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
- Familiarity with procurement processes to source necessary parts and equipment for maintenance and repairs cost-effectively.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations to ensure compliance with workplace safety standards during maintenance activities.
- Experience in training and mentoring less experienced maintenance technicians to develop a skilled and cohesive maintenance team.
Main Communication Partners and Interfaces
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, external vendors, and other departments regarding maintenance needs and activities.
- Ability to document maintenance procedures and activities clearly and comprehensively for reference and knowledge sharing purposes.
- Strong interpersonal skills to mentor and train new maintenance technicians and facilitate knowledge transfer within the maintenance team.
- Basic knowledge of technical terminology and jargon to communicate effectively with fellow technicians and external service providers.
- Professionalism and clarity in verbal and written communication to convey maintenance requirements, issues, and progress updates accurately.
- Adaptability in communication styles to cater to different audiences, such as team members, supervisors, and external vendors, ensuring clear and concise communication at all levels.
- Active listening skills to understand maintenance needs, concerns, and feedback from various stakeholders, incorporating their input into maintenance activities effectively.
